Town Clerk's Office

The Town Clerk's office is the center of the Town's municipal government. Questions on all aspects of the community can be directed here. 

·         Records Management Officer - all Freedom of Information (FOIL) requests are administered through the Town Clerk's office. The Town Clerk is also responsible for maintaining the official public signboard, advertising, and handling bids.

·         Registrar of Vital Records - the custodian of all birth, death, and marriage certificates occurring within the Town as well as access to genealogical records.

·         Recording Secretary and Filing Officer for the Town Board - attending meetings, authoring minutes which are retained permanently for legal and historic purposes and include adopted local laws, oaths of office, resignations, petitions, annual budgets, assessment rolls, fiscal reports, court actions, bond and note registers and the official maps.

·         Permit Issuing Agent - issuing licenses and permits for marriage, dogs, conservation (hunting and fishing), games of chance, and handicapped parking permits. 

o        Marriage license requirements:
--Photo identification e.g., valid photo drivers license or non-drivers license, valid passport, original Naturalization papers, military photo ID or verifiable employer's photo ID;
--Birth name, a birth certificate (birth affidavit, and delayed registration of birth) with raised seal including parents' names;
--Applicants who have been divorced, copies of divorce papers indicating when the document was filed with the courts.
--Both parties must sign in person before the clerk, but they do not have to complete the application at the same time.
--There is a 24-hour waiting period before a ceremony can be performed.

o        Dog license requirements:
--Proof of current rabies vaccination and spayed/neutered proof.

o        Handicapped permit requirements:
--Proof of Town residency, signed paperwork from a physician. Forms are available in the clerk's office.

o        Conservation licenses requirements:
--Fishing licenses, proof of NYS residency (driver's license or non-driver identification card). --Hunting licenses, photo ID as noted above and proof of hunter safety certification.

·         Elections coordinator for primary and general elections.

·         Notary Services – Town Clerk is a Notary Licenses by the State of New York.  Proper identification must be provided and the document must be signed in the presence of the Clerk.

ALL TAX PAYMENTS (PROPERTY, SEWER, WATER) MUST BE MADE IN U.S. FUNDS ONLY.  U.S. POSTMARK WILL GOVERN ALL MAILED PAYMENTS.  CLOSED LEGAL HOLIDAYS.

ALL INCORRECT PAYMENTS WILL BE RETURNED.  OVERPAYMENTS OF $2.00 OR LESS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.  NO POSTDATED CHECKS ACCEPTED.  A $25.00 FEE WILL BE CHARGED FOR EACH RETURNED CHECK. 

If the property has been sold or transferred, please forward bill to the new property owner.
